Our Prepreg is a fabric matrix composite structure for fabricating parts for use in hostile high heat environments. The term "Flexible Ceramic" is used to describe products developed with an inhibited elastic stage and a more fully reactive ceramic stage. Our Prepreg is a fabric matrix composite structure for fabricating parts for use in hostile high heat environments. This inorganic material can enter and sustain itself in the “Red Heat Zone” (600°- 1000°C) for extended periods of time. Our material has passed the ASTM 136-09 Furnace Test rated as "non-combustible". We have the ability to handle temperatures beyond the limit of organic materials. A single ply laminate can act as a fire barrier. When heat is applied, it will produce a protective ceramic skin with a hard rubber backing that has rebound capability to compensate for movement and vibrations. Laser cutting will produce ceramically sealed edges.
Prepreg Properties and Information:
- Provides fire-proof capability
- For best results, prepreg should be stored @ (18°C/ 0°F), "B" stage life approximately 1 year.
- Outlife - 120 hours @ (21°C/70°F)
- Basic Cure cycle ( 300°F /148°C) 3 hours 185 - 200 PSI
- Extended Cure Cycle at higher temperatures will result in higher mechanical properties
- Post Cure - allow to return to ambient temperature.
- Note: higher temperature will make material more ceramic.
- Operating Temperature: 0 to 2000°F
- Bonds well to aluminum, nickel, silica fibers
- Co-cure or thermal bond possible.
- Laminates have white matte finish.
- Laminate densified ceramic material specific gravity 2.0 g/cc
